AUCKLAND, 29 September 2023 – Plumbing services company Grammar Plumbing announced today that it has acquired industrial maintenance specialist company D.K. Putt Plumbing 2006 Ltd to further expand the group’s plumbing capabilities.
D.K. Putt Plumbing was founded in 1970, although the company’s roots in Auckland go back nearly 40 years. They have operated throughout the city, working from a commercial premises in Manukau, with specialist skills in maintenance plumbing, gas fitting and metal roofing.
From 2nd October 2023, D.K. Putt Plumbing 2006 Ltd will be known as Grammar Plumbing Ltd, trading as Water Works. Water Works itself is an Auckland-based plumbing company with a 31-year history, which was acquired by Grammar Group in September 2022 to provide operational synergies for the company group, as well as benefits for Grammar’s customers by having electrical and plumbing services aligned.
Company owner and director, Aaron Dempsey, says he is thrilled to be adding D.K. Putt Plumbing to the Grammar group of companies as part of an ambitious long-term growth plan.
“This is another exciting purchase for Grammar as it will enable us to bring all gas fitting work in-house and expand our current service offering into industrial maintenance,” he says.
Dempsey says that D.K. Putt Plumbing’s former owner, Chris Heley, will continue to work with the company to ensure continuity of customer relationships, while also providing development and training for the Grammar Plumbing team.
“It was clear to us that D.K. Putt has a deep understanding of the local market dynamics across wider Auckland, as well as a highly skilled team that has strong established relationships with their customers – which makes them a perfect fit with Grammar,” says Dempsey.
Chris Heley echoed this view, saying: “We are excited to be joining the Grammar group of companies and building on our decades of success, which will now have the surety of continuing with the professional guidance and business oversight from the Grammar team.”
This acquisition is another significant step, and Grammar Group is not done yet.

Same Day Service Guarantee - Terms & Conditions
The "Same Day Service Guarantee or it's Free" applies to:
a. Residential work and Commercial only.
b. Jobs specified as needing same day service when booking a job by phone or online.
c. Residential and Commercial work booked with Grammar Electrical:
i) Before 11:00AM
ii) For calls or online bookings received after 11:00AM, the customer will be offered a job. Booking for the next business day and normal callout fees ($170+ GST) will apply.
iii) Any other jobs booked outside business hours (9:00AM - 5:00PM Monday- Friday) will incur after hours charges.
iv) This offer is excluded for jobs booked on New Zealand public holidays.
d. If Grammar Electrical are unable to attend on the same day (within 24 hours) for a job booked by the customer, the standard callout fee of $170 + GST will be waived and is free, but all other normal charges, fees and expenses will apply to perform the Electrical Services and to provide any products/materials concerning those services.
e. The Standard Callout Fee will be deducted from your bill as long as you pay within your invoice's due date. The callout charge is applicable if your invoice is overdue.
f. If Grammar Electrical are willing and able to perform the Service or provide the Goods on the same day the job is booked, however the Customer for whatever reason does not give access to their property on the day, Grammar Electrical will be deemed to have complied with it's "Same Day or it's Free" guarantee and shall be entitled to charge the customer the standard call-out fee.
g. This offer is not a guarantee of work being completed. The completion of the job will depend on stock availability and also the amount of work required.
